2019 Ford F-150 Summary

The Ford F-150 sets high standards for full-size pickups with its lightweight but high-strength, military-grade, aluminum-alloy cab and bed. This is the same high-grade 6000 series used in military and industrial applications. To make this possible, a heat-treating process is used to harden the aluminum alloy. Working with aluminum alloy allows an increase in thickness to achieve strength without increasing weight. The lighter aluminum-alloy body and bed produce a higher power-to-weight ratio resulting in best-in-class payload and towing capability.

Your F-150 is built to work hard. But that doesn’t mean you have to. That’s why the F-150 is designed to be easy to operate, whether you’re inside the cab or working out of the pickup bed. The fully boxed frame is made of more high-strength steel (up to 78 percent) and larger cross sections than the previous-generation frame.

FOX Racing worked closely with Ford for the latest F150 model to upgrade their suspension technology. 2019 drivers will look forward to the new damping shocks that feature Live Valve technology, and can be electronically controlled. This adapts the ride based on the terrain providing a smoother ride by diminishing jolts and bumps. The truck can sense when the truck is airborne in order to secure the shocks and prevent damage in the undercarriage.

Its Terrain Management System offers seven selectable modes (Normal, Sport, Slippery, Tow/Haul, Deep Snow/Sand, Baja, and Rock Crawl). And now, the Raptor adds new Trail Control.

Engines

The F-150 also offers six engines covering three configurations: naturally aspirated V6 and V8 gas power plants with twin-independent variable cam timing, turbocharged gas EcoBoost V6 offerings, and the Power Stroke Turbo Diesel V6.

2.7L

This engine delivers a robust 325 horsepower and 400 lb.-ft. of torque because it’s engineered with the Ford port-fuel and direct-injection (PFDI) system with two injectors per cylinder, dual overhead cam design with variable intake/exhaust cam timing, plus twin intercooled turbochargers for on-demand power.

3.5L Ecoboost

The 3.5L EcoBoost with 10-speed transmission boasts impressive power ratings of 375 horsepower and 470 lb.-ft. of torque, available in two power grades: 375 hp and 470 lb-ft or 450 hp and 510 lb-ft.

High-Output 3.5L Ecoboost

Under the unique Raptor hood is the 24-valve, 3.5L twin-turbo HO EcoBoost with Ford port-fuel and direct-injection system and 10-speed automatic, generating a massive 450 horsepower and 510 lb.-ft. of torque. The high-output EcoBoost is the standard engine for luxury travel in the top-of-the-line F-150 Limited.

3.3L TI-VCT V6

The 3.3L Ti-VCT V6 delivers responsive performance with 290 horsepower and 265 lb.-ft. of torque. The twin independent variable cam timing (Ti-VCT) opens/closes the valves in precise duration to suit operating conditions, so power output is optimized at every point across the performance band. The 3.3L also has the Ford port-fuel and direct-injection (PFDI) system.

5.0L TI-VCT V8

This legendary Ford V8 with 10-speed transmission delivers all the muscle you could need. Experience robust 395 horsepower and 400 lb.-ft. of torque, courtesy of twin independent variable cam timing (Ti-VCT), as well as the Ford port-fuel and direct-injection (PFDI).

3.0L Power Stroke Turbo Diesel

The best pick of the group if you plan to do a lot of towing. 11,400 lbs. of towing to be exact.

10-Speed Automatic Transmission

F-150 EcoBoost, V8 and diesel engines deliver their power through an advanced 10-speed automatic transmission. Compared with the 6-speed, the 10-speed delivers improved overall performance, with enhanced acceleration at the low and mid ranges of the power band. Features include optimized wide-span gear spacing coupled with drag-reduction actions plus three overdrive gears. You can choose from five selectable modes: Normal, Tow-Haul, Snow-Wet, EcoSelect, and Sport.

Upgrades

Shifting into four-wheel drive is as easy as turning a dial with the electronic shift-on-the-fly (ESOF) system. ESOF lets you choose two four-wheel-drive modes (4x4 low or high) as well as two-wheel drive. LARIAT, King Ranch , Limited, Platinum and Raptor models also include automatic 4WD mode. The FX4 Off-Road Package includes electronic-locking rear differential (locks the rear axle completely for enhanced traction at both wheels), Hill Descent Control, off-road tuned shock absorbers, skid plates, and “FX4 Off-Road” decal. Plus, the available 360-degree camera with split-view display is helpful when you’re maneuvering in tight spaces and on off-road trails.

The Torque-On-Demand transfer case automatically applies torque with fast responsiveness to the front or rear. The electronic-locking rear differential, when engaged, locks the axle for a firmer grip at both wheels. And the Raptor rides on BFGoodrich. All Terrain KO2 Tires. Available beadlock-capable wheels that let you air down the tires for enhanced traction.

The 2019 Raptor will be the most flexible of its kind as it allows drivers to switch quickly between different terrains and modes of recovery. The long awaited Trail Control will be available in the 2019 Raptor, adding to its already long list of notable off-road specs. This innovative feature makes off-roading safer and more reliable. The system will automatically adjust your engines power and brake pressure by directing torque to each wheel and using gradual braking to provide better control on descend. This off-road version of cruise control can be activated at speeds from 1 mph up to 20 mph. This will help you keep your eyes on the road without affecting your steering.

Peace of mind comes standard with Ford F-150
